Discoveries also has an excellent chance to bounce back. Though she disappointed in the 1,000 Guineas (G1) last out, she needed a race off the bench last year as well, before rounding into her best. This was probably the goal all along: her connections won this race in 2018 with her full sister Alpha Centauri and in 2020 with her half-sister Alpine Star.
In such a deep and talented field you would hope to see longer shots with a true winning chance, and that is the case here.
Spenderella ships overseas for the first time ever, but her American form is strong. She showed both pace and a strong turn of foot in the Appalachian (G2), always a tough combination. Furthermore, she also showed that she can cede the lead and come back, meaning she has some level of tactical ability. In a race with this much speed, that makes her a threat.
Prosperous Voyage fits this spot, but is more interesting for exotics than for top honors. She is regularly competitive against these sorts of horses, though as a placegetter and not a winner. There is no reason she cannot continue that here, especially with her pace versatility, but do not trust her to win.
