A field of seven is set to contest the 40th running of the Grade 2 Forward Gal on a stakes-heavy afternoon of racing January 30.

On Saturday at Santa Anita, the featured race is the $75,000 Astra Stakes. Restricted to fillies and mares, the race will be contested at a mile and a half on the turf and has drawn a field of nine.

As the lone stakes race in North America January 10, the $100,000 Aqueduct Ladies figures to grab the attention of horseplayers despite drawing just five horses following the scratch of 8/1 shot Sheriffa in the mile and 70 yard event on the main track.

On Saturday at Santa Anita, the road to the Kentucky Derby will begin with the $100,000 Sham Stakes. Restricted to three-year-olds, the Grade 3 race offers qualifying points towards the Run for the Roses and will be contested at one mile.

On Thursday at Santa Anita, the featured race is the $75,000 Eddie Logan Stakes. Restricted to two-year-olds, the stakes race will be contested at one mile on the turf and has drawn a field of ten colts and geldings with one additional listed as also-eligible.

On Saturday at Tampa Bay Downs, the track will host the $100,000 Inaugural Stakes. Restricted to two-year-olds, the six furlong contest has attracted a competitive field of eleven colts and geldings.

In one of the more challenging races on the Louisiana Champions Day card November 12 at Fair Grounds, the Ladies Sprint features 12 runners set to go six furlongs in the penultimate event of the afternoon.

On Saturday at Gulfstream Park, the track will host the $100,000 Harlan’s Holiday Stakes. Scheduled to be run at a mile and a sixteenth on the main track, the stakes race has drawn a field of ten colts and geldings.

On Saturday at Aqueduct, the featured race is the $100,000 Garland of Roses Stakes. A six-furlong contest, the race has drawn a field of seven fillies and mares.

The 141st running of the Grade 1 Clark November 27 at Churchill Downs has drawn a competitive field of nine in a race the features the return of two Breeders' Cup Classic contestants for the mile and an eighth main track tilt.
